Bio

Grant is a PADI Course Director (Instructor Trainer), holding over thirty PADI Specialty Instructor Trainer ratings, including PADI Medic First Aid Instructor Trainer, and DAN Instructor Trainer for all of DAN's educational programs, DAN Field Research Coordinator, US Coast Guard Licensed 100 ton Master Captain, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Diving Medical Technician, American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor, and also holds a BS in marine biology from Long Beach State.

Grant is President of Scuba And Film Enterprises, LLC. SAFE is a water safety, coordination and production company that assists in water production for the entertainment community. He has spent time both in front of and behind the camera. You may have seen him in one of PADI's or DAN's current training videos.

He was a director, DP, underwater director and technical advisor for the Aquanauts on Discovery's Animal Planet network. He is a published author and photographer, as well as a working director, cinematographer and videographer.

As an active cave diver, he has participated in and led expeditions in Brazil, Honduras, Mexico, Florida and California. He is the Southern California Regional Safety Officer for the National Association for Cave Diving and a member of the Cave Rescue and Recovery Team. He is also a member of the Nohoch Nah Chich Exploration Cave Diving Team (one of the world's longest underwater cave systems).

He devotes much of his time to helping the Cambrian Foundation, a not for profit cooperation, in their mission to help preserve, explore, protect and educate the world about the aquatic realm. He is their West Coast Coordinator and has participated in the 2000 NOAA USS Monitor Expedition phase one and three, 2000 Akumal Cave Expedition, and is the project director for the 2003 NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Deep Survey Project. Grant is a technical diving Instructor and Instructor Trainer. He teaches all levels of technical open circuit diving including trimix, mixed gas blending, advanced wreck diving and mixed gas systems. He holds Instructor type ratings for Drager Dolphin semi-closed circuit rebreathers and on the SM1600 and PRISM Topaz closed circuit rebreathers. He is a principal contributor to DSAT's Tec Deep Diver program.
